TIFFANY TRIP

Haven’t been out for a while so decided to take myself on a date once realizing a favorite comedian in town. Made sure to take the Streetcar since parking a pain and enjoy pretending I’m on a subway within a vast metro. The show was alright but quality not as keen as his Youtube, but dug the opener given her sharp take on growing as a rough-nineties kid.

However, the best part of the evening was experiencing the Midland Theatre for the first time. Had always heard of it and realized why; the structure is incredibly majestic if not magical and kick myself for not arriving earlier to fully explore its mysterious corners.

Anyway, while situated in a new building I always play a game to guess when it was originally built given architectural hints. This can be tricky due to trendy renovations/influences but fortunately historical buildings try to retain their roots. After analyzing ornate elements that could of come from a couple places, I looked above and noticed a stained glass window, which can be helpful since each style is tied to certain times. Upon closer inspection also noticed how similar it looked to stained glass associated with Tiffany furniture fixtures, prominent in the early 1900’s given the rise of electricity and the Art Nouveau movement. So with that guess in mind, pulled out omniscient Google and lo and behold: the Midland Theatre was constructed in 1927 for my dear KC.
